20 Obvious Things To Do While Iced In

As I await the Ice/Snow Storm, I find myself with mixed emotions. I am really ready for spring, the sun and a visit to St. Simons Island, but I secretly love when it snows and being trapped at home. I almost feel like a little kid with a Snow Day. I sit here eagerly watching and then, hope that all my neighbors get together and we enjoy a few cocktails on a day we normally would not be able to hang out.

Fire or Fireworks...whatever works

So, I thought I would share a list of things to do at home as a little reminder that we can still have fun or get things done over the next few days (some with or without power).

First and foremost, I recommend a trip to the grocery store and the liquor store. You have to have provisions!

  1. Sleep in: It’s like a weekend, but the middle of the week. Woohoo!
  2. Laundry: Sigh, but just knock it out in the morning and you can play the rest of the day.
  3. Enjoy your family: Put the phones away and make memories.
  4. Games: Everybody can use a little Scattergories, Taboo, Uno, Yahtzee and if you’re by yourself, I recommend BopIt! Just have fun!
  5. Cook: Been eyeing your favorite recipe in Southern Living, well get to it! Bon Appetit!
  6. Movies: Now is the time to go to a RedBox or rely on On Demand. Cozy up and watch movies or if you are the King’s, enjoy your wilderness shows and the Olympics.
  7. Organize: Have that spot (mine is the kitchen table) that seems to collect all crap that comes in the house. Clean it up and organize/throw-out the junk! It will probably take 30-minutes tops.
  8. Clean: Go ahead and knock it out and boda bing, your weekend is free!
  9. Exercise: Well, this sounds challenging when it’s freezing outside, but you can do push up, squats, planks, lunges, use your imagination in the comfort of your home.
  10. Party: Get your neighbors and have some fun! Bonfire, classic rock, cocktails…all just a walk away!
  11. Snuggle: Grab your pup, cat or kids and snuggle up with them.
  12. Robot: I just think it is fun to do the robot.
  13. Read: Maybe you like smut magazines, how-to manuals, love stories, hiking adventures, lose yourself in some good reading material.
  14. Write: Maybe you want to start a business, laying out processes to meet your goals or you are writing a book, put your thoughts on paper.
  15. Music: Break out your old CDs, tapes and records and enjoy your favorite tunes (maybe even throw a few dance moves in there).
  16. Scrapbook: Ok, I know we all have a bazillion pics and memories that are sitting in a box. Don’t let them got to waste, pull them together so you can enjoy and share.
  17. Reminisce: Get your old yearbooks, wedding album, family photos, family trees and flip through them. You’ll be surprised how fast time will fly.
  18. Gather: You know the old saying: If you haven’t worn it in a year, you need to get rid of it. Well, now’s your time. Go through closets, drawers, basements and gather up your donations.
  19. Help: Be aware of your neighbors and elderly as they may need some assistance.
  20. Most important: Please be safe and please be prepared.

Well, I left off Work, I guess you shouldn’t do any work then.

Seriously, I hope everyone is safe and sound over the next few days and has an opportunity to enjoy some quality time with friends and family.

She just looks so cute in that snow!!
