So, I think it is time I let everyone know I bleed Orange and Blue…and yes, so does ALMOST all of my family (still love you sis!). But when I say all of my family, I mean mom, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins and even Nannie. So to say that this is an exciting day is an understatment for this family!
I grew up watching Auburn games with my parents, digging through their old yearbooks and hearing quite the stories of my dad and his pal Ed. My dad still has his Supper Club Card and if I recall correctly, his “member” number is in the 100s.
My mom and dad went on their first date at Auburn…Chewacla State Park to be exact, which was a mission to collect bugs for my mom’s bug collection. Seems like a normal first date…right? Ok, she was studying Entomogly. (P.S. That bug collection was amazing and came quite handy during middle school and high school for projects). And the rest is history as they have been married now for more than 40 years.
We would occasionally go to games growing up, and it was like yesterday that my best friend Brooke and I (with my parents) sat in the stands cheering for the quarterback, Stan White…and oh how I loved him when I was 13. But, if when weren’t at the game, we were right in front of that tv cheering our hearts out.
Which leads me to the next phase of my life and cheering my heart out! Random fun fact, I happen to be on the Dance Team at Auburn, Tiger Pause. Talk about an amazing experience. I remember walking into that stadium for the first time to the roar of the crowd, covered in goosebumps and emotions I can’t even begin to explain. I may have always been a second off, getting in trouble or being silly, but I loved the girls on the team, I loved being on that field, I loved Auburn Football, I loved that my parents and our families tailgated every game…I loved and still love Auburn.
So, when football seasons comes around or Auburn has a big game, the memories from childhood to college run through my mind. And while I celebrate and enjoy Auburn Football with new friends and create new memories, I absolutely cherish my past and my memories with the Tiger Pause, my roommates (Deena, Lindsay, Katy, Christy, Becky, Andrea, Keri), my AXO sisters, my partner in crime, Tracy and so many more, that made me love Auburn.
And yes, today I will be drinking Vixen Vodka; and yes I will sing the fight song everytime we score; and yes if I am feeling real good I will bust out old Tiger Pause routines and probably pull a muscle; and yes I will sing the Alma Matter at the end of the game; and yes I will celebrate when Auburn wins the SEC Championship. Because I believe in Auburn…and I love it!
