As I await the Ice/Snow Storm, I find myself with mixed emotions. I am really ready for spring, the sun and a visit to St. Simons Island, but I secretly love when it snows and being trapped at home. I almost feel like a little kid with a Snow Day. I sit here eagerly watching and then, hope that all my neighbors get together and we enjoy a few cocktails on a day we normally would not be able to hang out.
So, I thought I would share a list of things to do at home as a little reminder that we can still have fun or get things done over the next few days (some with or without power).
First and foremost, I recommend a trip to the grocery store and the liquor store. You have to have provisions!
- Sleep in: It’s like a weekend, but the middle of the week. Woohoo!
- Laundry: Sigh, but just knock it out in the morning and you can play the rest of the day.
- Enjoy your family: Put the phones away and make memories.
- Games: Everybody can use a little Scattergories, Taboo, Uno, Yahtzee and if you’re by yourself, I recommend BopIt! Just have fun!
- Cook: Been eyeing your favorite recipe in Southern Living, well get to it! Bon Appetit!
- Movies: Now is the time to go to a RedBox or rely on On Demand. Cozy up and watch movies or if you are the King’s, enjoy your wilderness shows and the Olympics.
- Organize: Have that spot (mine is the kitchen table) that seems to collect all crap that comes in the house. Clean it up and organize/throw-out the junk! It will probably take 30-minutes tops.
- Clean: Go ahead and knock it out and boda bing, your weekend is free!
- Exercise: Well, this sounds challenging when it’s freezing outside, but you can do push up, squats, planks, lunges, use your imagination in the comfort of your home.
- Party: Get your neighbors and have some fun! Bonfire, classic rock, cocktails…all just a walk away!
- Snuggle: Grab your pup, cat or kids and snuggle up with them.
- Robot: I just think it is fun to do the robot.
- Read: Maybe you like smut magazines, how-to manuals, love stories, hiking adventures, lose yourself in some good reading material.
- Write: Maybe you want to start a business, laying out processes to meet your goals or you are writing a book, put your thoughts on paper.
- Music: Break out your old CDs, tapes and records and enjoy your favorite tunes (maybe even throw a few dance moves in there).
- Scrapbook: Ok, I know we all have a bazillion pics and memories that are sitting in a box. Don’t let them got to waste, pull them together so you can enjoy and share.
- Reminisce: Get your old yearbooks, wedding album, family photos, family trees and flip through them. You’ll be surprised how fast time will fly.
- Gather: You know the old saying: If you haven’t worn it in a year, you need to get rid of it. Well, now’s your time. Go through closets, drawers, basements and gather up your donations.
- Help: Be aware of your neighbors and elderly as they may need some assistance.
- Most important: Please be safe and please be prepared.
Well, I left off Work, I guess you shouldn’t do any work then.
Seriously, I hope everyone is safe and sound over the next few days and has an opportunity to enjoy some quality time with friends and family.
XOXO,
Carrie
