Your Name + Ness
Last week I had the privilege of attending the Women’s Entrepreneurial Festival at NYU. LeeAnn went last year and pushed me to attend this year. I was rather reluctant because it was a new year with work to be done and vodka to be sold. And then one day I got an email with my registration information. Hmmmm, I didn’t sign me up, wonder who did!?!
LEEANN!!!
Well, it was amazing, and exactly what I needed.
The speakers were top-notch, sessions idea producing and informational, but the highlight was the talented female attendees. From Liz who developed the everpurse and Stephanie who created Culintro to Amanda who just launched Availendar and Jessica who founded Rock Paper Robot, I was completely impressed by their amazing businesses, credentials, determination, encouragement and so much more…which got my mind a spinning.
And oddly enough, took me to the movie You, Me and Dupree. I am about to admit that I love Romantic Comedies and I can watch the same movie 1,000 times. I actually knew all the words to Desperately Seeking Susan as a child, but I digress. I have officially seen the movie You, Me and Dupree a bazillion times, and while completely silly, I love when Dupree talks about your “Ness.”
Well, my definition of ness is what makes you…well you. It’s what keeps us all from being the same person, laughing at the same jokes, crying at the same thing. It is your drive, compassion, focus, personality. It takes time to find your ness, to own your ness and to appreciate others ness.
While the ladies I met are embarking on these incredible business adventures, their ness is what has gotten them to the point they are at and will be what continues to make them grow. They will be spoken about as compassionate leaders, confident women, trendsetters, innovators because they have found and own their ness.
We all have ness, we are just put on this earth to use it differently. What makes you unique, sets you apart, makes you a great leader, drives you, makes you happy, makes people want to be around you…Find your ness and you will find you.
XOXO,
